exhausted, but happy

We had a darn-near perfect LotO camping weekend. The weather was cool, but not freezing. No rain, no snow, no hail, no frogs. The air was mostly still, making the fire pleasant to sit around.

The trail we hiked Saturday darn-near killed everyone who went on it, and I’m still tired from it. I have yet to unpack the coolers, though I did get the milk out. That said, I managed not to overeat or overdrink, which makes me overhappy.

On the way back, Mike suggested driving 94 from Jeff City to St. Charles, and I’m glad he did. It was that kind of gorgeous you only see in coffeebooks. Bucolic, sweeping, on fire with autumn. Well worth the extra hour of having to stare at the tail end of his Honda.

I had some trouble sleeping due to fears of demonic murderers lurking in my lonely cabin, but all in all I managed. Booking up the campground was one of the best things we’ve ever done, and definitely something we hope to do next year.

I am exhausted and need to attend to laundry. And tomorrow, I attend to work. Articles due. Crap to get done. Situation normal, but tonight I sleep.
