I did a lot of cooking this weekend, and so am enjoying my dinners of eggplant cutlets and tofu and vegetables in tomato-masala sauce. The latter only gets better the more the tofu sucks up the yummy spices.

I’m test-driving a fruit tart this long Labor Day weekend. Chances of party are low — at my little game company our Labor Day is usually a week later due to last minute AGC doings. I think the tart will be welcome on Tuesday, when what remains of the crew check in to monitor the needs of the folk who’ll be in Austin showing off the engine.

I’ll probably also take another stab at pita bread. Last efforts were an unfortunate mess. Ah well. It’s only yeast and flour and water and oil!

And chicken. I have a chicken recipe I want to fiddle with.

I’m drawing up food plans for all sorts of future events. I submitted to the powers that be the menu for the annual church dinner/brunch I prepare up in Chicago, and am waiting for input on that. Camping I have a few things planned for as well. We’ll see if I do any of them. My plans often far exceed my energy to do them all.

The last party I went to, one of the attendees — a gentleman who’s a husband of a friend’s friend — looked at me and my low-fat jalapeno poppers and said, “You always bring something, don’t you?” And the answer is — yes. Sometimes more than one thing. Sometimes five things, when I only meant to bring a bag of chips and a case of beer.

(The poppers were really good, btw.)

Elsewhere, I’m pretty sure the cats pissed on my gym bag. The li’l scamps.
