Dear world, I have started knitting my first sock. I was so deliriously excited about my socky victory (my sockcess!) that I lost track of time and when I looked up from my books and my pattern and my nest o’ needles, it was 2:30 AM. Unf.
Knitting in the round on multiple doublepoints has long been my nemesis, and I have had many false socky starts, but I managed to get to row ten this time and it looks good so far. Besides, if the Yarn Harlot can do it, I figure I can, too.
The pattern is a ripple thing, the yarn is blue-teal-grey, and I love it a lot because it is not a scarf, or a blanket, or that shawl that is still sitting in my knitting bag, mocking me.
Yay socks!

That’s it. You have now sealed your doom.
Yay for you! I haven’t done anything with dpn as I foresee myself stabbing out my eyes!
My doom will officially close around me when I wear them.
I’ve done a hat on dpn, once it got too small for my circular. It’s like wrestling with chopsticks. I cannot imagine doing socks.
I remember my mother fashioning a pullover for me on an endless collection of bamboo knitting needles. Guess there wasn’t a circular set wide enough for my hips =P It was scary, seeing all those pointy parts sticking haphazardly from her knitting. But the pullover was way cool and worth the terror of seeing it in its formative stages.
