We had 60 mph winds here. I’d probably think they were cooler if they hadn’t, like, knocked down trees…traffic lights…brick houses….
I did stand out in the wind for a while — not unlike standing next to a BART train before it’s about to arrive, except with more risk of getting smacked in the face by a flying stop sign.
My own building is fine, as far as I know. I have power (for now), and had cable — it went out around 11:30. My biggest loss are the tomato plants that were out front. The storm utterly flattened them. I’m hoping that they’ll bounce back, but it may be too late in the season for that.
Driving home was surreal. Streets were closed. Several houses had acquired brand new additions in the form of fallen trees. Now is a good time to be in the tree doctoring business.
We’re expecting more storms tonight, so for all I know my power situation is merely temporary. I hope not. Anyway, for those concerned — Casa del Bob and its occupants are fine, and thank you for the 9 AM calls of worry.

So I wasn’t the only concerned one…..get out your candles and lone flashlight.
There are advantages to living in the eighth Pale of Hades. The sky does not try to suck us up, nor does it try to blow us off the face of the planet.
Of course, it DOES try to cook us…
Of course, Gryph - it doesn’t need to bother with the big production numbers out there. Ya’ll don’t move all that fast in that heat.
Glad to hear you weren’t blown to Kansas, Steph!
Indeed, I’m delighted to hear everyone’s relatively OK
We move plenty fast…when scuttling between sources of air conditioning…
((hugs)) for sis-o :/ Here’s hoping your internet holds out!
