I’m having an allergic reaction to…something. It could be my new comforter. It could be my new soap. It could be my new diet. It could be my face cream. It could be the adjustment to my thyroid medication. My eyelids are puffy and there are tiny welts forming on my cheeks and other places. Wonderful.

No way to know what’s causing it, I can only start eliminating things. Changed my soap already, will wash my sheets and use a different comforter, and go back to the old face cream. Diet-wise, I don’t think I can hold on to the vegan life much longer anyway — it’s killing me financially. But I do want to keep up the low cal thing, so I’ll switch that out Sunday when my groceries run low.

So, with my face looking like I’ve smeared beet juice down my cheeks I have to interview someone. It’s part of the process of finding my web-like replacements. This was inevitable, but interviewing people is still strange and new to me.

My Vampire players are certainly enthusiastic. I should really find some way to keep them engaged in the next two weeks. Perhaps a coloring book activity?

    Interviewing people is fun. You get to ask cool questions like:
    “How many eggs can you fit in your mouth? The last web developer could do 3 and we have a strict policy on that.”
    or
    “If you were rewriting css for the site that we have, and your time frame was a weekend. What would be the website you spend most of your ‘free time’ on while charging extra to the clock?”
    or
    “If you beat Jim the ex-football player in an arm wrestling contest, I’ll move your resume to the top of the stack.”

    So um… isn’t it gonna be hard to figure out which of those things caused the problem if you change all of them at once? :smile:

    Josh: The wild desire to no longer be the stay-puft marshmallow girl has me zealously eliminating anything that could be the problem. By and large, though, I suspect that it’s just the state of Missouri trying to kill me. Again.

    Chad: If only…if only….

    I’m sorry about the hives. That really sucks. You’re taking something for hypothyroid, right? Was the dosage increased? That might be the first thing to check. When I was out of control hyperthyroid, hives were one of my symptoms.

    I hope you get some relief soon.

    When i was the sales manager at a small weekly newspaper, my boss scheduled a job interview on Halloween for a potential new ad salesperson and forgot to tell me. I interviewed them dressed like a clown.

    I love interviewing but I’m a real pit bull about it. If they survive the interview that’s a good sign. Most don’t.

    You didn’t mention the thyroid medication when we spoke, sis-o. Definitely talk to the doctor about that. It’s not one of the nicer side effects. But look on the bright side. If folks think you’ve been beaten up or are perpetually tearful, they’re more likely to buy you a vegan lunch. Hehe!

    I’m enthusiastic but I have stuff to do anyway.

    Although will probably send email re: a phone call I want Avery to make. If I remember.

    Are your allergies better?

  • 9 Steph // Jun 27, 2006 at 12:24 pm

    The Zyrtec works, but the moment it wears off I get itchy again. :\

    Face isn’t puffy anymore, though, so that’s nice. Going to stay on the Zyrtec and hope it blows over.

    My suggestion Dove soap. It is the only one I can use and I have the same skin you do. Second, if it is an allergic reaction benedryl (sp) will help right away. Just take a small dose.

    Finally, can you make your birthday dinner exclusive of chips, crackers, and fries. I have given them up for the next 6 weeks just to see if I can. This is day two and it is really hard especially when I am getting gold fish crackers for the kids or packing lunches. So I know it isn’t dairy, but I feel your pain my sister.

    Happy Almost Birthday!!! Can’t wait to see you and your beet juice cheeks.

    Love - Cyn

    Sadly, benadryl has no effect on this other than to knock me out. Zyrtec, however, does.

    The current menu for dinner is:

    * Brats w/tortillas
    * Grilled veggies
    * Grilled pineapple (well, if I have my way, that is)
    * Potato salad
    * Baked beans
    * Salad (again, if I have my way)
    * Cake

    As for crackers — no problem with that, since we’re all nuts anyway :P
