My cooking failure last week was assuming I could substitute ground turkey for ground beef without consequence. I made a valiant effort to get through the skillet lasagna, my frugal side warring with my nausea, but in the end nausea won. I never even tried the chili. I deep sixed both, wiping a tear from my eye as I did so.
Still, one must always try new things.
Tamma is giving me some of her rose-of-sharon shrubs (trees?), and I just ordered some mockorange and blueberry bushes. Oooh. Blueberries! I’m so excited I could asplode.
My own particular brand of stubbornness had me out in the garden despite the tornado warnings. I can’t decide if it was sisu or stupidity, but I did get most of my perennials in the ground and the borage, edible chrysanthemum, salad mixes, and wildflowers all got thrown at the general vicinity of the earth.
Photos as soon as I get the shrubs in.

Too bad I have sworn to take vengeance out on myspace. Me and Mr. Axe.
I’ve learned a new word. Sisu! Not quite Sis-o but close enough.
Rose of Sharon is a beautiful flower. But the blueberries…(she sighs wistfully, wondering if there will be blueberry jam in her future)…yum!
keep digging!!!!!Love you.mima I hate ground turkey too it does nothing for the recipe. I would rather eat a little less of ground BEEF that use ground turkey.
