Papo’s Salsa

Wintertime tomatoes would not keep my grandfather from making salsa; he just used canned instead.

I admit that typing this is a touch difficult; there are quite a few things I would change about this recipe (lime juice for lemon, omit the basil, minced red onion instead of powder), but I’m being faithful.

  • 2 14 oz cans diced tomatoes
  • 4-5 green onions, whites and greens chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 small can chopped green chilies
  • basil
  • oregano
  • salt
  • garlic powder
  • onion salt
  • lemon juice
  • cilantro, chopped
  1. Combine in a bowl.
  2. If this isn’t thin enough, add some tomato juice. If you want it hotter, add chopped jalapeno pepper.
